In November, we were honoured to be the beneficiary of a special fundraising cabaret hosted by our Trustee and Second Stage visionary, Edward Snape, as part of Fiery Angel’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The evening celebrated the production company’s remarkable journey while also shining a spotlight on the mission of Second Stage, with all ticket proceeds directly supporting our work. It included an unforgettable cabaret, featuring Clive Rowe, Dillie Keane, Lizzie Bea, Rob Brydon and, to everyone’s delight, a show-stopping appearance from Basil Brush!
Amidst the videos of support from Sir Stephen Fry, himself a prison-leaver, and Sir Kenneth Branagh, who congratulated Fiery Angel on this significant milestone, one of the most powerful moments came when our Trustee and Governor of HMP Isis (YOI), Emily Thomas, and our Ambassador, Michael Balogun, spoke together. They shared their experiences of the lived realities of people in prison and the transformative impact of opportunity and belief. Their words deeply resonated with the room.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and additional donors, the event raised vital funds that will help us extend our in-prison training and create more pathways into meaningful employment for people on release.
