Who we are

FOUNDING PARTNERS

The idea of linking jobs in the theatre industry with prison-leavers came from independent theatre producer Edward Snape who engaged Jo Hutchison to research a feasibility study. Together they have developed the research, information and contacts to pilot the idea. They are Second Stage’s Founding Partners.

Edward Snape

Theatre Producer

Edward Snape leads Fiery Angel, an independent production company producing multi award winning drama, comedy, musicals, and event theatre in London, on tour and internationally. Recent and notable productions include UK and international tours of And Then There Were None, Murder on the Orient Express, and Death on the Nile; Edward is the co-lead producing partner with the National Theatre on Warhorse and Till The Stars Come Down. West End productions of King Lear, The Winter’s Tale, All On Her Own/Harlequinade, Red Velvet, The Painkiller, Romeo and Juliet, and The Entertainer in partnership with Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company; Fleabag, Kathy and Stella Solve A Murder, Home I’m Darling, Long Day’s Journey into Night, Mary Stuart, Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (all West End); and The 39 Steps (9 years in the West End, 3 UK Tours, 3 years on Broadway and presented in over 40 territories worldwide including Olivier, Tony and Moliere award wins)

Colin Howes

Corporate Lawyer at Harbottle & Lewis, Charity Law Association member and Director of Comic Relief

Colin is a consultant and former partner at law firm Harbottle & Lewis who has experience advising both numerous businesses within the creative industries and the hospitality industry and charitable organisations. He is also part-time general counsel at F1 Arcade. He is a former and founding trustee of Comic Relief, is Board Adviser to Virgin Unite and has significant experience in advising charities on legal and governance issues.

Emily Thomas

Governor of HMPPS (YOI) Isis

Emily has been in the Prison Service for 25 years and a Governing Governor for 16 years.  As a trustee she will be able to advise and support on all aspects of operational prison delivery.  As founder and trustee of Untold she also has knowledge of operating a charity and opportunities for employment and training within the creative industries.

Kash Bennett

Managing Director and Producer, National Theatre Productions

Kash Bennett is the Executive Producer of National Theatre Productions, a National Theatre (NT) subsidiary, where she is responsible for delivering live theatre performed outside of the NT including the West End, Broadway and UK and international touring productions. She has delivered over 30 productions in the last 8 years including The Lehman Trilogy, The Motive and the Cue, Dear England, Standing at the Sky's Edge, and Ocean at the End of the Lane.

Before joining the National Theatre as Producer, Kash was Head of Production for Stage Entertainment UK and general managed shows in the West End and on tour including I Can’t Sing (Palladium Theatre), Made in Dagenham (Adelphi), Memphis (Shaftesbury Theatre), Singin’ in the Rain (Palace Theatre and UK tour) and UK tours of Hairspray, Sister Act and Oliver!

Kash is also President of the Society of London Theatre, a trade association for the owners and managers of London theatres.

Jo Hutchison

Executive Director

Jo has had a 30 year career in Theatre Marketing working for producers, promotors, agencies and venues, culminating in running her own agency JHI for over a decade. Key clients include Mamma Mia! Worldwide, Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show, Six The Musical and Mischief Theatre.

Since selling her agency she has worked as a freelance consultant and is excited to be a founding member of Second Stage.

Fiona Somerville

Operations Manager

Fi has worked with business owners for more than 25 years, helping them develop their companies, overseeing operations and accounts and working with them to manage their staff, fairly and effectively. For well over a decade she has worked in the world of theatre, the last two years through her own company.
